Kaadhusumi Dhussamgathi (కాదుసుమీ దుస్సంగతి)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
కాదుసుమీ దుస్సంగతి
పోదుసుమీ కీర్తి కాంత పొందిన పిదపన్
వాదుసుమీ యప్పిచ్చుట
లేదుసుమీ సతులవలపు లేశము సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
దుర్జన స్నేహము కూడదు.కీర్తి సంపాదించిన తరువాత తొలగిఁపోదు.అప్పునిచ్చుట కలహముకు మూలము.స్త్రీలకు ప్రేమ కోంచమైనను యుండదు.

Kaadhusumi dhussamgathi
Podhusumi kirthi kaamtha pomdhina pidhapan
Vaadhusumi yappichchuta
Ledhusumi sathulavalapu leshamu sumathi.

Meaning:
(The poet opines that) One shouldn’t make friends with vile people; once earned good name will not be destroyed; lending money is the root of all disputes; women do not have love for others.
