Parasathi Kutami Goraku (పరసతి కూటమి గోరకు)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
పరసతి కూటమిఁ గోరకు,
పరధనముల కాసపడకు,పరునెంచకుమీ,
సరిగాని గోష్టి చేయకు,
సిరిచెడి చుట్టంబుకడకు జేరకు సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
పరసతుల పొందు గోరకుము,ఇతరుల భాగ్యమున కాశపడకుము,పరుల తప్పులెంచకుము.తగనటువంటి ప్రసంగముచేయుకుము. ఐశ్వర్యము కోల్పోయిన కారణముగా బంధువుల వద్దకు వెళ్ళకుము.

Parasathi kutamiao goraku,
Paradhanamula kaasapadaku,parunemchakumi,
Sarigaani goshti cheyaku,
Sirichedi chuttambukadaku jeraku sumathi.

Meaning:
Do not hope for union with someone else’s woman; do not hope to own someone else’s fortune; do not speak words that are not in one’s place; do not seek refuge of relatives on losing fortune.
