Neetho Yuddhamu Cheyanopagavithaa (నీతో యుద్దము చేయనోపగవితా)

Composer: Dhurjati (or Dhoorjati) (Telugu: ధూర్జటి) (15th and 16th centuries, CE) was a Telugu poet. He was born to Singamma and Narayana in Sri Kalahasti and was the grandson of Jakkayya. He was a great devotee of lord Shiva, also known as Kalahasteeshwara. He referred to his birthplace as part of Pottapi Nadu, named after an earlier Chola kingdom based from Pottapi in Cuddapah in his works. More...

నీతో యుద్దము చేయనోప,గవితా / నిర్మాణశక్తి న్నిన్నుం
బ్రీతుం చేయగలేను,నీకొరకు తం / డ్రిన్ చంపగాజాల నా
చేతన్ రోకట నిన్ను మొత్తవెరుతం / చీకాకు నా భక్తి యే
రీతి న్నాకిక నిన్ను చూడగనగున్ / శ్రీకాళాహస్తీశ్వరా!

తాత్పర్యం:
శ్రీకాళాహస్తీశ్వరా!అర్జునునివలె నీతో యుద్దము చేయుటకు శక్తిలేనివాడు నీపై కవిత్వములల్లి నిన్ను ప్రసున్నునిగా చేసుకొనవలెను.నీకోసమై తండ్రిని చంపుకొనలేను.మూఢ భక్తునివలె నాచేతిలో యున్న రోకటితో నిన్ను కొట్టనూ లేను.నీయందు నాకు గల భక్తియే నను బాదలపాలు చేయుచున్నది.మరే విధముగా నాకు నిన్ను చూడగల అవకాదము కల్గునో భోదపడక యున్నది.కావున వెంటనే నాకు కన్పింపుము.

chaethan rokata ninnu moththaveruthan / cheekaaku naa bhakthi yae
reethi nnaakika ninnu choodaganagun / shreekaalaahastheeshvaraa!

Meaning:
O Lord! I donot have the power to fight you in a battle like Arjuna. I donot have the skills to create poetry and charm you. I cannot kill my father to please you, nor am I a blind devotee who can throw stone at you. I am pained that I am unable to get a glimpse of your auspicious appearance.
