Composer: Dhurjati (or Dhoorjati) (Telugu: ధూర్జటి) (15th and 16th centuries, CE) was a Telugu poet. He was born to Singamma and Narayana in Sri Kalahasti and was the grandson of Jakkayya. He was a great devotee of lord Shiva, also known as Kalahasteeshwara. శ్రీ కాళహస్తీశ్వరా!మనస్సనెడివేపవృక్షమునకు దనకాంక్ష పాదు.అహంకారము జలమగును.దానికి జ్ఞానము లేకుండుటయే విత్తనము.అశ్వాశ్వతమైన విషయములే ఆ విత్తనము పాతుట కేర్పరిచిన పాదు.మనస్సునందు పుట్టిన ఆవేశమే దానికి కంచెగా ఏర్పరిచిన రక్షణ కవచము.అసత్యములే మొలక.చేసెడు చెడుపనులే ఆకులు.కామ సంభందమైన చెడుపనులే ఆ చెట్టుకు పువ్వులు పండ్లు.ఇటువంటి వేపచెట్టును నా మనసు నుంచి తొలగించి జ్ఞానవృక్షమునకు కారణమైన బీజమును నా మనస్సులో నాటుము.

Meaning:
O Lord! The heart is like a neem tree with the thirst of money forming its roots, Vanity waters these roots. Ignorance is the seed that forms this tree. Unstable desires help this seed to grow. Anger seeking this vanity protects it. It forms the sapling of untruth and branches out with wrong deeds. It bears the fruit of wordly desires and action. O Lord! Please destroy this tree and plant the seedling for the growth of Gnana vriksha, the tree of knowledge.
