పద్యం:
దానం భోగో నాశస్తిస్రో |
గతయో భనన్తి విత్తస్య ||
యున్న దదాతి న భుఙ్త్కే |
తస్య తృతీయా గతిర్భవతి ||
తాత్పర్యం:
ధనాన్ని వ్యయం చేసే విషయంలో తాను సంతృప్తిగానైనా అనుభవించడం జరగాలి. లేదా సత్పాత్రులకు దానం చేయడమైనా జరగాలి. ఈ రెమ్డు విధాలా జరగనపుడు దానికి మూడో మార్గమ్ – చోరుల చేత హరించబడటం తప్పదు.

‘చత్వారో ధనదాయాదా ధర్మాగ్ని నృపతస్కరాః |
తేషాం జ్యేష్ఠావమానేన త్రయః కుప్యన్తి సోదరాః ||’

ఎందుకంటే ధనానికి నలుగురు దాయాదులున్నారట ! వారు వరసగా ధర్మం, అగ్ని, రాజు, తస్కరులు. వీరిలో పెద్దవాడికి ఏమాత్రం అవమానం జరిగినా – మిగతా ముగ్గురూ ఊరుకోరట ! అంటే – ధర్మబద్ధంగా ధనం వ్యయపరచకపోతే, దాన్ని సంగ్రహించడానికి అగ్ని, రాజు చోరుడు కాచుక్కూర్చుంటారట ! కనుక – సంపాదించిన ధనం ధర్మబద్ధంగా ఖర్చుకావాలి. అర్థపద్ధతికిదే ఆయువు పట్టు.

Dhaanam Bhogo Naashasthisro |
Gathayo Bhananthi Viththasya ||
Yunna Dhadhaathi Na Bhugthke |
Thasya Thrutheeyaa Gathirbhavathi ||
Meaning:
One must either enjoy the wealth they have or give it to people who are needful and deserving. If neither is done, it will be lost in the third way – it will be stolen by thieves.
‘chathvaaro dhanadhaayaadhaa dharmaagni nrupathaskaraah |
theshaam jyeshtaavamaanena thrayah kupyanthi sodharaah ||’

Wealth has 4 cousins – Dharma (Righteousness), Agni (Fire), Raju (King) and Taskarulu (Thieves). It is said if the eldest is disrespected; the other three will not forgive. That means if one doesn’t speand their wealth in rightful manner, then the other 3 will be waiting to seize it away.

Hence one has to speant money in a rightoues way. This is the principle of sustaining wealth
