పద్యం:
భగ్నాశస్య కరణ్డ పిణ్డితతనో ర్మానేన్ద్రియస్య క్షుధా
కృత్వా ఖు ర్వివరం స్వయం నిపతితో నక్తం ముఖే భోగినః |
తృప్తస్త త్పిశితేన సత్వర మసౌ తే నైవ యాతః పథా
స్వస్థా స్తిష్ఠత దైవ మేవ హి పరం వృద్ధౌ క్షయే కారణమ్ ||
తాత్పర్యం:
బంధానికి , విమోచనకుగాని, హానికి గాని – అభివృద్దికి గాని తోడ్పాటు తథ్యం. ఈ ఉదంతం ద్వారా భగవానుని లీలను నిరూపిస్తున్నాడు కవి. ఒకరాత్రిపూట ఆహార సంపాదనార్థం బయలుదేరిన ఒక ఎలుక, ఒక పెట్టెను కొఱికి రంధ్రం చేసి అందులోకి దూరింది. అంతకు ముందే దానిలోపల దూరి వున్న ఒకపాము, ఇరుగ్గా ఉన్న ఆ పెట్టెలొ కదల్లేక దేహం ముడుచుకొని కృశించి ఆకలితో నకనకలాడుతుంది. ఎలుక అందులోనికి దూరగానే , దానికి నెమ్మదిగా కదిలి, ఎలుక చేసిన రంధ్రం లోంచే బైటికి వెళ్ళిపోయింది. ఇంతటి చిత్రమైన ఘటనల కూర్పరి దైవమే కదా !

Meaning:
The poet tells the supreme power does its magic with this story as an example. One day a rat, seeking food, made a hole in the box and enters it. There was a snake in that box, which got captured in the box, struggled and tried to get out of it, failed and lying without any energy. When the rat enters the box, the snake slowly crawls out and gets liberated.
