God willing peace would come soon,” Sahu had written to his friend. But death came first. Just three months into active service after completing his training in Goa, 25-year-old Sahu was killed on June 7 in shelling while he was repairing communication lines which were down. Rather than grieve inconsolably, villagers in his native Baniasahi village celebrated the return of their dead hero.
